Seeing Unity Today
My only aim today remains the same as every day
To see my every circumstance as gifted come what may
To reckon other pilgrims as important as myself
Considering the land not mine, but owned unto itself
To thank the Lord for food today, receiving it with joy
Surrendering the urge to grip what soon will be destroyed
Everything is mine and yours, while nothing is as well
Every one and thing on earth share one common death knell
Genuine enlightenment can be accessed equally
Boundless joy available and true affinity
Realizing unity in everything I see
Breaks the chains of limitation; sets the captive free
If there's one end of leadership, maybe it is to remain in community. After all, if no one is following you, then are you actually a leader at all? Even though I do believe that we lead ourselves first and foremost, I don't think that's the end. Certainly, we pursue productivity and profitability as well, but I think there's more beyond the bottom line. When we can be agents of unity, uplifting others and allowing others to advance along with our noble cause, isn't that the most gratifying accomplishment of leadership? In my poem Seeing Unity Today, I express my heart for unity and my hope for leaders around the globe to embrace it heart and soul.
